background / biography
Started in Fort Bragg North of California in 1993, when a Portuguese marching Band
from San Jose was there playing for a Holly Ghost organization, of course it is a
Portuguese tradition every where the Portuguese people go they carry out there
traditions.
The Mass was been presided in English and no Choir in that Church, but they had an
Organist there playing some songs, when the Mass was about to end it the Organist
tried to sing the Anthem in Portuguese, but he did not know all the words, we give him
allot of credit for trying and a few musicians from the Band helped him out and we
were able to finish the Anthem.
The Board of directors immediately asked this Group to go there the following year
and sing the whole Mass and that’s how this Choir started, we are very proud of our
Group and we can say out loud thanks to "FORT BRAGG ORGANIZATION"
About two years later other organizations found out about our Choir we are
independent and we did not have any commitment with any Church, so we were able
to travel around California.
In 1996 we were invited to sing Mass at Five Wounds Portuguese National Church the
official Choir was not able to attend because they had gone to Mountain View to sing
for another organization. Father Noia was our Pastor and he heard Saudades da Terra,
he automatically invited our Group to give one Sunday a Month for Five Wounds we
agreed to it and here we are still singing the 3rd. Sunday of every month at Five
Wounds.
In 2003 we where invited to sing for Amigos da Terceira in Pawtucket Roth Island “San
Vicente de Paulo” celebration
In 2005 went to Fall River Massachusetts for the Holly Ghost celebration (big Festa)
about 80 thousand people attended, great experience.
We have participated Luso America conventions in Sacramento and Santa Clara,
Queen Santa Isabel In Santa Rosa and Mission San Jose.
